About Us
SMFM (I) was established in the year 2017 with the registered office at Mirror Health, Bengaluru. The society was launched on 19/03/2017 during the International Society for Obstetric Medicine(ISOM) congress at Capetown South Africa; which was live streamed to an interactive audience from Bengaluru. The society was established after two years of dedicated efforts by ‘THE MFM INITIATIVE’ which was founded in 2015 whose primary aim was to focus on building the awareness of Maternal Fetal Medicine in India.
The society encompasses a group of likeminded clinicians who practice Maternal Fetal Medicine. The primary goal of the society is to focus on comprehensive care of both the pregnant mother and the fetus as a single inseparable unit. The Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist would take complete responsibility of the pregnancy from preconception to postpartum. However, the focus of care would revolve around high-risk pregnancies and perinatal management to ensure a safe mother and a healthy baby.
This society which has been established for the first time in India aims to spread the spirit of safe motherhood across the country through focused academics and training.
