Second Annual Meet of THE SOCIETY FOR MATERNAL FETAL MEDICINE ( INDIA)

29–30 June 2019 | Bhagwan Mahavir Jain Hospital, Bengaluru
The Second Annual Meet of The Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine (India), held on 29th and 30th June 2019 at Bhagwan Mahavir Jain Hospital, Bengaluru, was a highly enriching and fulfilling academic event.
The conference featured in-depth discussions addressing implementation challenges in two key thematic areas: PCOS in Pregnancy and Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy. A robust hands-on workshop on Fetal Thoracic Defects, coordinated by Dr. Ramamurthy B.S., was particularly well received. The scientific program also included engaging case discussions and a Round Table Meet focusing on the clinical utility of biomarkers in preeclampsia management, which drew thoughtful participation from a highly focused audience.
The prestigious SMFM(I) Oration was delivered by Dr. Kamini A. Rao on the theme “The Era of Subspecialisation.” Her address was deeply inspiring, especially for young professionals striving to advance subspecialty training and elevate standards in Maternal Fetal Medicine across the country.
A major highlight of the meeting was the series of live interactive webinars featuring distinguished international faculty. Dr. Kenneth Chen (current ISOM President) and Ms. Lauren Talbert joined virtually from London (UK) and Rhode Island (USA), while Dr. Sofia Cerdeira from University of Oxford contributed insights on cutting-edge research developments. These sessions captivated the audience and fostered meaningful global academic exchange.
The programme was also relayed live to participating centers in Mysuru and Delhi, enabling real-time interaction with faculty and further expanding the academic reach of the conference.
The meet concluded on a high note, leaving participants with valuable lessons, collaborative momentum, and renewed commitment. The Society looks forward to strengthening the dissemination of Maternal Fetal Medicine across India through focused research initiatives and enhanced national and international collaborations.
